Gynoid | Alejandro Acosta

Gynoid is part of a series of canvases that I started in 2017. In this series, I represent robotic human beings. It is a painting that questions the limited capacities that human beings have to function in the digital age the same way that we do in the natural environment.

La muerte | Alejandro Acosta

A man is enjoying a glass of good wine and at that moment the grim reaper arrives and snatches it from him to finish it herself. This work is inspired by the Castilian medieval romances (The romances are characteristic of the medieval oral tradition, and were derived from the chants of deed and the epic poems). Many of these romances were made for children and spoke of death in a natural and macabre way. This tells us how our conception of death has changed in our contemporary age.
